We strip and mount the print you send.
That print can be on any RC photographic paper (Fuji,
Kodak, whatever), or it can be on any ink-jet paper
similar to Epson's Professional Media, printed using a
roll-feed large format printer.
We cannot strip Cibachrome, Kodak metallic, or fiber-based
watercolor paper. We cannot strip sheet-feed ink-jet paper from a
desktop printer.
Typically, prints from a lab work fine.
You
sell what you show.
To help you make the sale, MuseumBond will canvas your
studio samples at a 15% discount. To keep your displays fresh
and current, we'll do up to five of these per year. When
sending in a sample print, indicate on your order form that
it's a display piece, and adjust the price accordingly.
Due to the much higher profit margin, many studios display
only canvassed prints. The client quickly comes to appreciate
the benefits of canvas, and your sale is assured.
What is the largest size image MuseumBond can canvas?
MuseumBond can canvas up to a 30x40", mounted on stretcher
bar.
How can I pay for my order?
MuseumBond accepts all major credit cards. For your
convenience, we will keep your number on file, and process
at point of shipment. If you live in Florida, please send a
copy of your state Sales Tax Certificate. Otherwise, we will
charge a 7% Florida Sales Tax on your work.
If you elect to be billed, payment by check is due net 30
days from the Invoice ship date. Delinquent accounts are
charged 1.5%/month on the unpaid balance, similar to credit
cards.
To include a check, calculate the cost as explained on the
Order Form. If you over or underpay, we provide a statement
and you can adjust the amount on your next order.
How much should I charge clients for this service?
Pricing: The general
industry markup is two-to-three times your cost. Depending on
your price scale, you could easily make an additional $200 to
$400 profit on each 20x24" portrait you sell. Customers
happily pay this higher price for the premium finish because
they have an heirloom quality canvas piece that can be mounted
proudly on their walls and enjoyed for a lifetime.
After investing big bucks in printing and artwork, the last
thing you want to do is just stuff your image in a box for
shipping. Poorly pack your masterpiece, and you may be having
it reprinted.
Rather than fret over whether your print will arrive
unscathed, let us offer a little advice. If the print was
mailed from the lab, use the same carton to mail/UPS it to
MuseumBond. If you don't have a carton, send it in a strong
mailing tube.
IMPORTANT- Do not simply roll your print and stuff it in
the tube. Even a slight crimp in the tube could transfer to
the print. To ensure a safe arrival, roll the print smaller
than the tube and secure it with tape. Place a small amount
of packing into each end of the tube to cushion movement.
Put the rolled print in the tube and secure the
caps with tape.
We cannot recommend one carrier over the other, they all
seem to randomly handoff a few packages to a gorilla for
testing. While proper packing will improve your odds in the
gorilla cage, there are no guarantees. If you are shipping a
large print, or you've paid for extensive artwork, get the
insurance.
How do I fill out the Order Form?
Following is our suggestion for filling out our order form.
Please take a moment to study this because in the long run,
it will save time.
Customer Shipping Information- fill out the first time you
send us your work. After that, just plug in ‘Company Name’.
We have everything else on record.
Print Description- helps us remember your image (i.e., two
girls in white at park)
Print Size- (20x24, 30x30, whatever)
Canvas & Stretch- check this and you will get a laminated
print on 10oz canvas, stretched on artist stretcher stock.
This is what 95% of our clients request. Want something
else? Don’t check the box; fill in the Special Instructions.
An example might be; you want a portfolio piece, or an image
canvassed, but not stretched.
Options Desired- check each premium service needed for this
print.
Shipping- we ship UPS. Check if print is to be shipped. If
you want to pick your prints up or use a courier, leave this
blank.
Total Price- on the Canvas Mounting Price Chart, find the
row with your print’s size (20x24). On that row, add up the
prices for the services you want (Canvas & Stretch + UPS
Shipping). Place your calculation in the Total column.
Summarize the cost of each image, add tax if applicable, and
include a check. If you use a credit card, there is no need
to calculate cost, we will do it for you.
Please note that we have two price sheets. One is for
standard sized prints, and the other has the United Inch
breakdown for odd-sized prints. MuseumBond charges for only
those “inches” used, rather than the next largest print
size. United Inches are fully explained on the price sheet.
How do calculate shipping cost?
On smaller sizes (8x10 - 20x24), costs are primarily
determined by weight, and are only mildly influenced by
destination. However, on oversized prints (UPS defined as
24x30 and larger), distance from shipper to recipient has a
major influence on cost, while weight has little or no
influence. (UPS, FedEx, and DHL all cost about the same)
The MuseumBond price sheet provides shipping cost as a range
so you can approximate your cost for quoting prices to your
clients. The Shipping Cost column is titled East/West. The
figures provide the cost for an East coast shipment, and a
West coast shipment. If you live in Kansas, pick some figure
midway. This cost is for one print.
Your actual cost will depend on whether we can bundle print
boxes together for shipping. With oversize prints, UPS
charges the same whether you ship one 24x30, or four 24x30
prints. We will charge you only what UPS charges us. We will
include the UPS receipt if you request.
Your shipping total will include the cost for the shipping
boxes, and the UPS bill. If we can bundle similar sized
prints together, your savings can be substantial.
